‘A Thought, A Mind’, the second track from Farewell J.R, is as haunting as it is uplifting. Farewell J.R, although based in Cambridge, enlisted friends from around the globe for the track, with parts recorded in Ireland and Australia. The emotive tone of the vocals from the beginning of ’A Thought, A Mind’ obscures the final destination of the song from the listener, which gradually builds into an uplifting crescendo of organ and strings. Joe Cowie, from Bolton in the UK, makes music as Medla and Kahwe. The reasons for the two different aliases is not immediate to us, as under both he makes catchy, bouncy house beats. Cowie, who runs the Leeds/Edinburgh based Transmissive Collective, dropped this track late last night, titled ‘Driving Me Wild’, which is available to stream above. Got us looking forward to the weekend already.
