AUDIO: Pascäal - Rain Jacket

Irresistible new track from Austin, Texas man Peter Wiley aka Pascäal. His tasteful choices of samples and drum machines create perfect deep chill vibes. Simplicity is always hard to get right, but all the synth, percussion, samples and bass sounds on ‘Rain Jacket’ are timed very intelligently, dropping in and out at the perfect moments. New EP Fragile will be out with Vresh July 4th.

AUDIO: Joanne Robertson - Halls // Black Moon Days

image

Joanne Robertson features on a couple of tracks from The Redeemer, Dean Blunt’s brilliant new album. Her contributions, in particular on the incredible ‘Imperial Gold’, left us wanting to hear more. Some internet exploring lead us to an album with Textile Records in 2008 and a Soundcloud page with a couple of newer tracks, both of which are delicately composed singer/songwriter delights, very similar to the wonderful sounds we heard on The Redeemer. We hope there’ll be more. Listen above.

VIDEO: Cherie Jones - It’s Real

It’s Real - Real Estate from Cherie Jones on Vimeo.

We were pretty apprehensive when we came across this take on ‘It’s Real’, originally by Real Estate, of course, and taken from the bands sophomore top 50 album ‘Days’. Yet as soon as those punchy synths hit, and the familiar melodic keys wash over, we were hooked. Cherie Jones, from East London, is a 23-year-old vocalist that gives off waves of brilliance, both vocally and musically, and turns Real Estate’s effortless summery pop anthem into a dark, yet beautifully positioned synth driven, new wave cut that merits, in it’s own right, the spotlight. Watch the video above and head here to listen to Jones’ take on Majical Cloudz’ ‘Childhood’s End’ via her Youtube channel.

Brighton’s Regal Safari are back with us, new track ‘I See’ is the first thing we’ve heard since last years ambient underwater vibes of ‘Believe’ and it’s a little more pumping, but still just as intriguing. The track is subtle in building and holding back, but keeps the level of dreaminess at a high throughout. Look forward to hearing more.
