‘A Thought, A Mind’, the second track from Farewell J.R, is as haunting as it is uplifting. Farewell J.R, although based in Cambridge, enlisted friends from around the globe for the track, with parts recorded in Ireland and Australia. The emotive tone of the vocals from the beginning of ’A Thought, A Mind’ obscures the final destination of the song from the listener, which gradually builds into an uplifting crescendo of organ and strings. Bam Spacey’s single ‘Vi Delar Samma Grav’, along with the accompanying B-sides, is shaping up to be our favourite release of the year so far. To call ‘B1 Ström’ and ‘B2 Ström (Saturday Mix)’ “B-sides” seems somewhat unfair, as they hold their own and could easily be singles in themselves. ’B1 Ström’ is beautifully textured with deep bass-y, yet uptempo, beats reminiscent of Nicolas Jaar, and is given direction by the saultry vocodered vocals that we have come to expect from Bam Spacey. ’B2 Ström (Saturday Mix)’ is a clever edit of ’B1 Ström’ and pretty much ready for any dance floor.
