We are proud to announce that the next instalment in our mixtape series comes from The Soft, a trio from Bury St Edmunds in the UK who have won the hearts and minds of music critics and fans alike. Last November saw the release of their first official debut Hot Summer EP, one of our favourites of 2011, and it has became a staple listen well into 2012. Hot Summer’s distinctive, experimental and melodic electronics are so well balanced and carefully orchestrated that it really is hard to believe the trio are still at school. So with this in mind, we asked The Soft to make a special mixtape for NT, to get a glimpse into what music they dig and what has inspired and motivated them. So sit back, listen and enjoy this half hour mix, featuring the likes of ‘women of the moment’ Lana Del Ray, MF Doom, and Mosca. Also featured in the mix are a couple of exclusive first listens of two previously unheard The Soft tracks, which are due out sometime in the near future. The first one is a track called ‘Uncanny Valley (Sketch)’, and the second is a remix of their track ‘Half Breath’ by Elysian Fields.
